WPWT 870 AM Marx E. Simpleton's Halloween Hill Hilarity: Rep. Matthew Hill Is A "Prophet"

WPWT 870 AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" host and self-decribed "former cultist" Mark E. Simpleton interviewd his so-called "Appalachian Radio Group" (actually Information Communications Corporation) boss Rep. Matthew Hill on the Halloween propaganda broadcast...

Simpleton actually referred to Rep. Matthew Hill as a "prophet"...just don't drink the Kool Aid, Marx!

"Dale", the import mechanic/pizza delivery boy/personal friend of Rep. Matthew Hill from Sullivan County was also on-air during "Good Morning Tri-Cities" at approximately 0845 a.m. delivering his unfounded telephonic allegations that Fred Phillips "...has many girlfriends across the state."

Rolling Thunder 4Tennessee BofD Endorsements For Fred Phillips

The "Political Briefs" section of this morning's edition of the Johnson City Press (Monday October 30, 2006) is sporting an news release citing the Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 Tennessee endorsement of Fred Phillips:

The officers and board of directors of Rolling Thunder, Inc., Chapter 4 Tennessee, has [sic] endorsed the candidacy of Democrat Fred Phillips in the 7th House District race against incumbent Matthew Hill.

In its endorsement, the chapter cited Phillips' military experience. Phillips served in Korea with the Army's 24th Infantry Division.

[...]

Hey, that isn't quite fair as Rep. Matthew Hill does have some military experience...that is to say, protesting the U.S. military at the Bristol war memorial during the Kosovo Air Campaign.

Rep. Matthew Hill: Routing Inbound Campaign Calls To State Employee/Executive Legislative Assistant

It appears Rep. Hill is once again atttempting to shift some of his campaign costs onto the backs of Tennessee taxpayers, this time by routing his 2006 campaign web site generated telephone calls to Joan Achuff in Nashville. The following excerpt is from the Contact page at http://www.matthewlistens.com/contact.asp :
Nashville Address
107 War Memorial Bldg.
Nashville, Tennessee 37243
Phone: (615)741-2251
Email: Matthew@MatthewListens.com
Contact: Joan Achuff

The Hill Boy's Deception blog posted information about Hill bringing in Nashvillian Achuff for a weekend into during a scheduled 2005 political, non-legislative event in Johnson City:

Hilly Happenings (Joan Achuff, 2005)
In early November, Hilly boy had an open house at exactly the same time as the Northeast Tennessee Republican Club and the Washington County Young Republicans held a barbeque and bluegrass meet and greet. Apparently, Matthew Hill was not invited, or he wanted to try to upstage them.

At Hill's open house, his legislative assistant, Joan Achuff, came to help. Given that Gov. Bredesen has asked the executive branch agencies to reduce unnecessary state travel, I am wondering if Rep. Matthew Hill actually flew in his legislative assistant, Joan Achuff, from Nashville while he attended the Republican barbeque --- Rep. Hill's official web site lists Achuff with a Nashville telephone number, so the assumption is that Achuff is based in Nashville.

# posted by salida stage right

Achuff is listed as Rep. Matthew Hill's "executive constituent services and legislative assistant" within cache files of the Tennessee House GOP web site. You might also care to notice that "Mr. Accessible Hill" has omitted the address of his 7th District constituent services office from being listed at his 2006 campaign web site.

Hill's district office is located (or was formerly located) at 301 Montgomery Street in Johnson City.

Fish In a Barrel: Jonesborough GOP Rally

An unmarked political display advertisement (i.e.: not identifying who actually paid for the ad) appearing within the October 25 edition of the Johnson City Press announces a "Republican Voter Rally":

Republican Voter Rally
Saturday, October 28, 2006
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
International Story Telling Center
Front Plaza, Jonesborough
Bob Corker
David Davis
Rusty Crowe
Matthew Hill

This might be a good opportunity for independent candidates to press Davis (and Hill and other GOPers) in Jonesborough for both an explaination of his Tennessee House voting record....it would be kinda funny if Davis managed to go AWOL on the Republican Voter Rally as he did on earlier invitations to congressional debates.

Woolley Bully: TN Chamber of Commerce President & Rep. Hill Bah Humbug Against State Minimum Wage

Rep. Matthew Hill has most recently been running a series of display advertisements within the Johnson City Press featuring endorsements from Senators Rusty Crowe and Ron Ramsey, Rep. Bill Dunn, and one President Deborah Wooley of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce --- Hill, as the former owner of a failed Jonesborough "Hill of Beans" Coffee Shop that was opened during the 2004 campaign season, must have been especially soothed by the overly kind and generous Woolley Words:
Deborah Wooley
Member US Chamber of Commerce
President of Tennessee Chamber of Commerce

"Matthew Hill has demonstrated a true understanding of the issues that are vital to job creation and growth. He has worked closely with the chamber of commerce community to identify and support legislation that creates an atmosphere in which Tennesseeans in House District 7 have more and better job opportunities. It is sad when, during an election campaign, courageous votes such as the one Hill cast against a flawed minimum wage bill are turned into political fodder. He stood up for his constituents and protected them from a bad proposal. He should be thanked for it."

It appears that TNCofC President Woolley is attempting to pull the wool of the eyes of 7th House District voters with regard to Rep. Matthew Hill --- Woolley seems to have abandoned the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce stated position against union firefighters in order to lash out against Tennessee minimum wage earners.

You might also want to check out the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry [EIN 62-1236002] 2004 Form 990 "Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax" as filed with the Internal Revenue Service by TNCofC President Woolley. Wooley is listed within the 2004 IRS Form 990 as receiving $171,411 in compensation and an additional $38,657 for her expense account and other allowances. The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry is recoginized by the IRS as a 501(c)(6) tax exempt business league.

Another nugget found within the 2004 IRS Form 990 filed by TNCofC President Woolley pertains to the TNCofC Board of Directors Chair D. Lynn Johnson of King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. --- while at least one TNCofCommerce newsletter of the period refers to Johnson as a "Consultant", Johnson is currently listed as a registered lobbyist for King Pharmaceuticals (#36580) at the U.S. Representatives Office of House Clerk web site...

This all makes me wonder just what is the training wage is for the position of TNCofC President...?

Tennessee 7th House District: Johnson City Press Endorses Candidate Fred Phillips

This morning's Sunday edition of the Johnson City Press (October 15, 2006) features an editorial endorsement for the 2006 election of Fred Phillips to be the next representative to serve the 7th House District in Washington County.

"Phillips will serve with talent"

Rep. Matthew Hill Lies: About Tennessee Department of Safety Commissioner Fred Phillips

Rep. Matthew Hill
The following excerpt is from a Johnson City Press interview with Tennessee 7th District House candidate Fred Phillips rebutting Rep. Matthew Hill's and the Hill campaign team's purposeful misrepresentation of the facts pertaining to Fred Phillips tour of duty as Tennessee Department of Safety Commissioner:
[...]

By Ben Ingram
Press Staff Writer
bingram@johnsoncitypress.com

Democratic nominee Fred Phillips isn’t ducking any questions in his quest for the 7th District’s state representative seat — including those pertaining to his time as commissioner of safety under Gov. Phil Bredesen.

Phillips resigned the post following allegations of political favoritism, the revelation that several Tennessee Highway Patrol employees had past criminal charges that ranged from aggravated assault to reckless endangerment and the resignation of THP Commander Col. Lynn Pitts.

“I’m probably asked once at each stop,” said Phillips, who is opposed by incumbent Republican Matthew Hill. “And I always ask voters if they have any questions about the Department of Safety thing.

“I was told that the department was in good shape when I was hired. The fact is, Bredesen’s administration didn’t hire any of those people. And they surely wouldn’t have been hired as a Washington County deputy sheriff.”

Phillips, in a meeting with the Johnson City Press editorial board, said it was his choice to leave the post even though the governor had asked him to see it through.

Phillips has since turned his attention toward politics and doing the right thing for Washington County — which he believes is new representation in the 7th District.

Hill Tribe Political Intervention At AECC: Ken, You Won't Be Getting That Cow Back In The Barn

I was just back at the Hill Tribe's WHCB 91.5 FM Je$u$ Bu$iness web site this morning and ran across this most interesting and recent post under the "About" tab:
[AECC d.b.a. WHCB 91.5 FM and the Cameo Theatre]
Policy Prohibiting Political Campaign Intervention
by Appalachian Educational Communication Corporation

Appalachian Educational Communication Corporation and any of its subsidiaries shall not engage in any political activity.

WHCB Ministry, Rep. David Davis, Rep. Matthew Hill

Specifically prohibited are the following:

1. Endorsing or opposing, either directly or indirectly [emphasis mine] any candidate for public office.
2. Donating or contributing to a candidate’s campaign.
3. Participating or engaging in political fundraising events or otherwise soliciting contributions to a candidate’s campaign.
4. Distributing statements for or against a particular candidate.
5. Engaging in any other activity that may favor or oppose a candidate.

The Board of Directors of Appalachian Educational Communication Corporation adopted this Policy Prohibiting Political Campaign Intervention by Appalachian Educational Communication Corporation and its subsidiaries on September 25, 2006.
Kenneth C. Hill, Rep. Matthew Hill, WHCB Ministry, WPWT

Well Ken, you won't be getting that cow back into the barn ...I take it that this use of AECC "subsidiaries" shall include Dr. Kenneth C. Hill's Information Communications Corporation in which AECC owns a 49% ownership interest.

Another item of interest was the following information pertaing to the AECC Board of Directors:
WHCB 91.5 FM is owned and operated by Appalachian Educational Communication Corporation (AECC), recognized as tax exempt as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organizaiton under the rules of the Internal Revenue Service. AECC is chartered in the State of Tennessee and operates under a volunteer Board of Directors.

These Directors include:
  • President - Dr. Kenneth C. Hill - General Manager of WHCB 91.5 FM
  • Vice-President - Rev. Guy Tilley - Director Emeritus of Bancroft Gospel Ministry
  • Secretary - Sandra Gonce - Nurse, Wife, Mother, Grandmother
  • Jane Bobic - High School Instructor, College Instructor
  • Dr. W. A. Johnson - Pastor of Lee Street Baptist Church
  • Rev. Jack M. Hilton - Pastor Bible Evangelical Methodist Church
  • Frank Waldo - Business Owner, Christian Missionary
  • Janet Hill - Director of the Historic Cameo Theatre [Bristol, Virginia]
  • Dr. N. W. Hutchings - President of Southwest Radio Church of the Air, Inc.
  • John V. Hunt, Jr. - Technician
  • "Include"? One is lefting wondering if this information presented at the WHCB 91.5 FM web site is actually an incomplete listing of all members on the AECC Board of Directors...and there are also the misleading implications present that Dr. Kenneth C. Hill and his wife Janet Hill are somehow AECC "volunteers".

Rep. Matthew J. Scumbag: 7th Incumbent Hill Makes Tennessee Political History With "Manure" Attack Ad

When you just start to think that a desperate political candidate --- in this case, Rep. Matthew Hill of the 7th House District --- could not lower the political debate any further within the Tennessee 7th House District with his interjection of half-truths and distortions, Hill rolls out a new attack ad on Democratic opponent Fred Phillips. Rep. Matthew Hill is now repeatedly airing a radio spot attacking Phillips within his most recent advertising on the Hill family owned WPWT 870 AM that references to fecal matter.

WPWT 870 AM aired Rep. Matthew Hill's "spreading manure" radio ad attacking Phillips on WPWT 870 AM this morning (October 12, 2006) at 0807 AM. Appalachian Education Communication Corporation (d.b.a. WHCB 91.5 FM and the Cameo Theatre) owns 49% of Information Communications Corporation (d.b.a. WPWT and other radio stations).

Hill is a Christian broadcaster and hosts a "Mister Matthew" children's radio program on WHCB 91.5FM.

The www.guidestar.org web site is finally posting the 2005 IRS Form 990 "Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax" for Appalachian Educational Communcaition Corporation as filed by Sullivan County GOP Executive Committee Member and AECC Chief Executive Officer Kenneth C. Hill.

In previous posts within this blog, there has been mention here of the rather sweet AECC warehouse deal putting an addition $1,000 per month into the pockets of AECC Chief Kenneth C. Hill --- a whole lot of wampum by almost anyone's objective standards --- and the recently posted 2005 AECC Form 990 reveals yet another new sweetheart deal involving the well-financed 501(c)(3) non-profit Appalachian Education Communication Corporation, d.b.a. "WHCB 91.5 FM", leasing an Abingdon, Virginia tower site (presumably WABN AM) from Kenneth C. Hill's own for profit Information Communications Corporation (d.b.a. Appalachian Radio Group):

Rep. Matthew Hill Lies: About Hill Securing State Highway Funding For Washington County

    Tennessee Representative Matthew Hill

According to an article appearing with the Johnson City Press, Rep. Matthew Hill is apparently letting out some big whoppers about his legislative abilitiy to bring back state funding for highway projects in Washington County:
    [...]

Phillips has since turned his attention toward politics and doing the right thing for Washington County — which he believes is new representation in the 7th District.

“I don’t believe that the county is getting the best return on its tax dollar,” he said. “And there is a general feeling that we are not being represented as well as we could be in Nashville.”

Phillips points specifically to Washington County’s lack of state money issued for new roads during the past two years, unlike neighboring counties such as Greene and Hamblen.

“My opponent [Rep. Matthew Hill] has said that he brought millions of dollars in road money to Washington County, when in actuality it’s for access roads, bridge work that is appropriated out of state infrastructure ... funds we get yearly,” he said.

Phillips cites road funds, education as key issues

2006 Primary NRA Political Victory Fund Rating: 7th District Gun Owner Fred Phillips Receives "A" Rating

The NRA Political Victory Fund web site also provides the following explaination of letter grades assigned to political candidates:
GRADES - Here is [sic] what the Ratings [sic] mean

    [...]

A+ An incumbent with not only an excellent voting record on critical NRA issues, but who has also made a vigorous effort to promote the Second Amendment.

    Rep. Matthew Hill

Well, it does look like Matthew Hill was wearing a NRA ball cap while "vigorously" protesting U.S. troops during the 1999 Kosovo anti-war demonstration in Bristol, Tennessee...

A Solidly pro-gun candidate. An “A” incumbent who has supported NRA positions on key votes. May also describe a non-incumbent “A” candidate (one not represented with an *) who has previously held other office and cast consistent pro-gun votes, or an “A” candidate who hasn’t held office but has expressed strong support for NRA positions on Second Amendment issues. It should be noted that a “non-incumbent” candidate may have been awarded the “A” rating due solely to their responses on the NRA-PVF candidate survey.

Apparently, Phillips would not have been eligible for the NRA "A+" as the NRA rating system has a bias favoring incumbent legislators...

I do not really know what true value that the NRA Victory Fund incumbent endorsement holds for most 7th House District voters as both the NRA endorsement page and Rep. Hill's official campaign "Accomplishments" web page each fail to mention all of those "critical NRA [legislative] issues" that Hill supposedly championed before the Tennessee General Assembly during his 2005 and 2006 freshman term...

    link

I don't suppose that Matthew informed the NRA Political Victory Fund within his NRA questionnaire that he sold his AR-15...I wonder if Rep. Hill bundled his rifle along with the sale of his "Hill of Beans" coffee shop supplies?
