Angry Jama Oliver: WPWT Host Timothy Hill Actually "Working On" David Davis Election Campaign Team

Angry Jama Oliver --- as posted within her self-styled "Jama Oliver: Conservative Rantings of An Angry Philosopher" blog --- apparently also has a set of angry and very loose lips (or rather fingertips) as she has let the information slip out from her blah-Blah-blah-Blah-blah-Blah blog to the Northeast Tennessee voting public that WPWT 870 AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" morning talk show host and 501(c)(3) tax exempt Appalachian Educational Communication Corporation (EIN 52-1221965) employee Timothy A. Hill is actually an insider working on the federal primary election campaign for the election of David Davis as the next person to represent the Tennessee 1st Congressional District within the U.S. House of Representatives.

Whew, a lot to post within a single sentence, but who knew??? Not all WPWT listeners!

Well, apparently one angry WPWT listener (Jama Oliver) did! Long-time monitors of WPWT 870 AM already knew that the "Good Morning Tri-Cities" host Timothy Hill has been giving away rather (and perhaps overly) generous blocks of WPWT 870 AM air time during Hill's "Good Morning Tri-Cities" broadcasts featuring the "latest" U.S. House candidate David Davis campaign news, time for on-air studio meetings, and telephonic interviews with David Davis , but I would have never, ever suspected for one moment that the "fair and balanced" Timothy Hill would be working as a David Davis campaign insider...after all, the 501(c)(3) tax exempt Appalachian Educational Communication Corporation owns 49% of WPWT 870 AM!

And according to the online records of the Federal Election Commission, Timothy Hill was already listed as a strong financial supporter of the David Davis campaign.

Read through the following excerpt of her blog posting of federal candidate David Davis' response to questions that Angry Jama emailed to the Davis campaign:

US Congressional Debate Part IX - David Davis

[Angry Jama] 1. With a great deal of publicity lately, do you believe the Fair Tax is superior to the present tax code? [Elmer Gantry note: this is apparently a leading question --- an effective trick utilized by trained and angry philosophers]

[David Davis] Absolutely. I will vote to enact the provisions of the Fair Tax as presently proposed in Congress. I believe the Fair Tax will eliminate the gross inequity of our current tax system that robs jobs from our workers and is an unfair system of taxation. The Fair Tax bill being promoted as House Resolution 25 and Senate Resolution 25 would abolish the wide range of federal personal, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, self-employment, and corporate taxes and replace them all with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax. Existing state sales tax authorities will collect this consumption tax. This legislation would repeal the 16th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution – that's the one that provides for the Federal income tax. This proposal provides for the tax to be revenue-neutral and has safeguards to protect those living in poverty. I think it is the best idea to protect the taxpayer from the ravages of the present tax system and its excesses.

[Angry Jama] Somebody studied!! The first time I spoke with Davis he was not quite as committed to the Fair Tax, although he did praise its merits. He [Davis] has either read up and decided to commit (a distinct possibility with Timothy Hill working on his campaign, as Hill is a huge Fair Tax supporter), or has felt the pulse of those in this district and decided to jump on board with his constituents.
Thanks again for the find, Angry Jama!

Johnson City Press Endorses Sullivan County Mayor Richard Venable for Congress

The Sunday July 16 edition of the Johnson City Press featured several election endorsements, including the leading article endorsing Sullivan County Mayor Richard Venable during the ongoing Republican primary elections for the U.S. House of Representatives 1st District seat over Washington County residents Phil Roe and State Representative David Davis.

The Press endorsement of Venable must be especially painful for the Gregory-Hill crowd as both the Hill-controlled 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit WHCB 91.5 FM and the for-profit WPWT 870 AM radio stations have been pitching Davis, and Venable only recently (and soundly) defeated the Gregory-Hill backed candidate and current David Davis campaign staffer Keith Spicer to win the previous Sullivan County Mayor election.

Reads kinda like WPWT 870 AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" host Timothy Hill might have needlessly tossed away his $250.00 campaign contribution to the David Davis campaign --- Timothy Hill has yet to disclose any on-air information about his sizeable campaign contribution to the Davis campaign all while never missing any chance to air Davis campaign news, telephonic and studio interviews while during his own on-air "Good Morning Tri-Cities" talk radio show on WPWT 870 AM. Timothy Hill is the younger brother of Tennessee State Representative Matthew Hill of Jonesborough and son-employee of the Rev. Dr. Daddy Kenneth C. Hill...

But win the mass injection of Gregory campaign contributions into Tennessee elections, the Press endorsement of Venable may be watered down by the close of the August 3 primary elections --- you may recall that Tennessee State Representative Matthew Hill was literally able to spend his way out of a hole (i.e. twice not receiving the Johnson City Press endorsement back during the 2004 elections) by falling back on the campaign contributions originating back with the Gregorys and Leitner Pharmaceuticals employees.

State Rep. Davis was on of several Northeast Tennessee members of the Tennessee General Assembly to interveined on the behalf of former King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. CEO John M. Gregory back during August 1999 to place Altace on the TennCare PDL (preferred drug list) --- Rep. Davis reportedly flew aboard a corporate jet owned by King Pharmaceuticals for a King lobbying meeting with the then TennCare Diretor Brian Lapps with the goal of securing Altace as a preferred drug for TennCare patients.

Elizabethton Star Endorses Dr. Phil Roe Within Crowed Republican Primary For 1st District U.S. House of Representatives Seat

The Elizabethton Star has for the second time within a week endorsed Dr. Phil Roe as the best candidate to vote for during the August 3, 2006 Republican Primary Elections representing the Northeast Tennessee 1st Congressional District within the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Wednesday June 28, 2006 edition of theElizabethton Star noted that the earlier June 25 endorsement of Dr. Roe within the Sunday Opinion section of the Star had incorrectly spelled the candidate's last name as "Rowe" [emphasis is mine]:
Dr. Phil Roe is our choice for Congress

Dr. Phil Roe is a Johnson City physician who is "pedaling" his way to the United States Congress. He hopes to be elected to the House of Representatives from the First Congressional District of Tennessee, which includes Carter County and 11 other Northeast Tennessee counties. The physician has been spending his weekends bicycling in each of the 12 counties, and is almost at the end of the route.

We have followed each of the congressional candidates as they have campaigned. We have listened to them; read their campaign news releases, and they each have some outstanding qualities. All seem to be noble men, interested in serving both their fellowman and the country. However, the man we are most impressed with is Dr. Roe. He is people-concerned, and he is most concerned about the issues that affect all of us -- health care, taxes, illegal immigration, veterans, and protecting our homeland.

In an interview this week, Dr. Roe said the one concern he hears most from people in Northeast Tennessee is "they are afraid they are going to get sick and they can't afford it." He shared a story about an elderly woman, who had three prescriptions filled. "It took one-fourth of her yearly income to provide her with these three prescriptions for one year. We have the most sophisticated health care system in the world, but it is unaffordable," said the doctor.

"We presently have 228 lawyers serving in the U.S. House of Representatives. There's only six doctors and three registered nurses serving in the House. If elected, I am immediately going to work to find a way to offer affordable health care in this country," he declared.

We like that. But, we also like the fact that he is not accepting any PAC money for his campaign. He only wants to work for the people of the 12 Northeast Tennessee counties he will represent.

A veteran, who served in Korea, Dr. Roe has experienced what it is like to serve on foreign soil and to leave a young family behind. His service experience was a learning experience. "Borders can be secured. We did it in Korea, and we can do it with Mexico . And, that's the first thing we need to do in dealing with this illegal immigration problem. We have to protect our borders, and we cannot grant amnesty to people who are lawbreakers. We are a people of laws, and if you enter this country, you must do it legally, and if you live here you must abide by the laws. Also, I think English has to be the language of this country," he said.

We like the way he thinks. We like his common-sense approach to solving problems. He thinks like so many of us in Northeast Tennessee.

We also know Dr. Roe to be a person of integrity and character; one who has conservative values like most of the folks who live and work in Northeast Tennessee.

Long before he became a member of the Johnson City Commission and Johnson City Planning Commission, he was giving of his time and energies to make life better for others. He has served the youth of the community as a soccer and basketball coach, was awarded the King Pharmaceutical Health Care Hero Award, and received the TN Board of Regents Award for Excellence in Philanthropy.

We believe he will be a strong and diligent Representative for all citizens of the First District. We believe he will not be swayed by lobbyists and special interest groups, but truly has at heart the needs and concerns of the people of Northeast Tennessee. We are casting our lot with Dr. Phil Roe in the Aug. 3 Primary Election, and we urge you to do the same.

You might go back into this Star endorsement and read the part about Dr. Roe's conversation with the elderly woman who could not afford to buy the prescription drugs and the observation by the Star that
"...he [Roe] is not accepting any PAC money for his campaign."
Contrast this observation about Dr. Roe with the political dealings of State Rep. David Davis who has himself a long history of accepting both pharmaceutical PAC money and campaign contribution from individuals directly involved with the pharmaceutical industry (such as former King Pharmaceuticals CEO and current Leitner Pharmaceuticals CEO John M. Gregory), and Davis' own personal involvement within the August 1999 King Pharmaceuticals legislative-lobbying airlift to meet with the then TennCare Director Brian Lapps in Nashville...
