Empty Suit: WDC Congressional Staff Want Ad Reveals Timothy Hill was Rep. David Davis' "Brain"

What a scary thought... and the Tennessee political news story from the summer of 2007 just keeps on giving, and giving, and giving, and giving...

Just pay attention to the differences between the following want ad for a congressional press secretary posted on November 15, 2007 by U.S. Rep. David Davis' "resurrected from retirement" Chief of Staff Brenda Otterson and the local newspaper articles by Hank Hayes appearing within both the Kingsport Times-News and the Johnson City Press on November 16, 2007 announcing the resignation of Timothy Hill as U.S. Representative David Davis' congressional press liar (secretary):
JOB OF THE WEEK: Communications Director for Congressman David Davis (TN-1st)

The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal skills as well as the proven ability to manage multiple communications projects. A broadcasting background is a plus but not a requirement. She/he will be responsible for writing press releases, op-eds, direct mail pieces, talking points, organizing press events, maintaining the official website, writing monthly e-newsletters & coordinating Tele-town halls. Duties will also include organizing and briefing the Congressman for radio interviews, writing and implementing PSA's from the Congressman, speaking to the press and coordinating the Congressman's overall press relations. The ideal candidate will have Hill or relevant press experience. Please email a resume, cover letter, and two writing samples to the Chief of Staff, Brenda Otterson, brenda.otterson@mail.house.gov with Communications Director in the subject line.
And compare the information in bold with the online edition of the Kingsport Times-News "Hill leaving post as Davis press secretary" posted on November 16:
Published 11/16/2007 By Hank Hayes

Timothy Hill, U.S. Rep. David Davis’ press secretary, will be leaving his position at the end of the year, Davis’ Chief of Staff Brenda Otterson said Thursday [November 15].

Aside from the Wikipedia incident, Timothy Hill has been key to raising Davis’ profile in Northeast Tennessee’s 1st Congressional District. During Hill’s year as press secretary, Davis has made himself available regularly for interviews with district media outlets, used an interactive Web site daviddavis.house.gov and held “Tele Town Hall” phone conferences with constituents.

Timothy Hill also put together a monthly e-newsletter for constituents and started a “Davis Capitol Update” program that is on 18 radio stations in the district.
I would have loved to be a "fly on the wall" in the Davis WDC congressional office and can imagine such lively political dialog between Davis and Hill:
Hill: " ...and therefore congressman, eagles have...HEY! FOCUS DUMBASS!"

Davis: "Huh?"

Hill: "Your "National Eagle Day" legislation...remember? Gosh dang it, David! Your Eagle Day bill is critical to the Homeland Security of the United States...if this eagle day bill legislation fails to be enacted THIS YEAR, all the teenage Islamo-fascists on distant continents and all the godless, dope-smoking , embryonic-killing Liberals here in the United States will have won the Culture War of Terror Against Retired Wealthy Pharmaceutical Multi-Millionaires!

Davis: "Wha...?"

Hill (slowly): "NATIONAL---EAGLE---DAY! E-A-G-L-E - D-A-Y! Dang, David! You have only sponsored two original pieces of legislation this year!

Davis: "Eagle?"

Hill (dropping his papers, crossing arms at wrists, joinging thumbs, and waving hands like bird wings): "YES! THAT'S CORRECT --- EAGLE! EAGLE!"

Davis: "E-e-e-eagle Day?"

Hill: "YES, EAGLE DAY --- I think it is coming back to you David! Listen: your Eagle Day legislation is terribly important to perserve America as only we non-denominational Christians know it! Surely, you don't want American children rounded-up from their home schools, forced to wear tie-dyed Birenstocks , marched off to a state university, locked into coed dorm halls, and then made to listen hour-after-hour to Barry Manilow over the state-supported student radio, do you?"

Davis: "Oh-h-h-h-h-h, Sweet Jesus, No-o-o-o-o-o!"

Hill (mutering while rubbing his hands): "Hee, hee, hee..."
David Davis was willingly relying on Timothy Hill for Davis' supposedly original "op-eds" and "talking points"? The Davis help wanted ad goes a long way in explaining why Timothy Hill announced his resignation before the end of the year.
