2004 Reported Compensation Sidebar:
Southern Baptist Leader Billy Graham

Rep. Matthew Hill
After peeling back some of the IRS Form 990 "Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax" filed by Appalachian Educational Communication Corporation (d.b.a. WHCB 91.5 FM and The Cameo Theatre), I got to thinking about the Form 990s filings submitted to the IRS by some prominent national 501(c)(3) organizations such as those headed up by Billy Graham (e.g.: Billy Graham Evangelical Assocation) and Larry Jones (e.g: Feed The Children), checking for such reported items as compensation, employee benefit packages, health benefits, and other reported items.

Billy Graham racked up over $400,000 in 2004.

I also intended to post several links pertaining to the Billy Graham (and related fam) organizations following the June 2006 unveiling of the "larger than life" Billy Graham statue, but I was sidetracked (in part) by election news --- perhaps these links are more up to date:.

I just saw that idol of a statue this week in downtown Nashville. It's at the SBC/Lifeway business headquarters. Funny that those two groups share the same area. Praise to the almighty dollar!

This Graham statue seems to be more of an advertising sign as Lifeway has a web page selling "Billy Graham resources"...

I am wondering if Lifeway has any plans to market small "good luck" Billy Graham statues for those looking to quickly sell their homes after burying the BG statue in their front yards???

Your comments attacking Rev. Graham are uncalled for, and on the same level as Rep. Hill attacking those that do not agree with his position. I mean do we really have to stoop to the same level of those we appose? If we do, are we truly any better than those on the other side of the isle? I mean think about it folks, we do not agree with them, or like it when they attack us for the way we think, yet some of us are doing the same thing. I think all the mud slingers, Christian, Muslim, Atheist, Republican, Democrat, whatever need to stop throwing mud and do whatever we can to work together and focus on what we do have in common... being Americans...I know that is what I fought and served for.... not all this political bull that some of us seem to be obsessed with.
