The performing arts are those forms of art which differ from the plastic arts insofar as the former uses the artist's own body, face and presence as a medium [i.e. not suited for broadcast radio], and the latter uses materials such as clay, metal or paint which can be molded or transformed to create some physical art object. The term "performing arts" first appeared in the English language in the year 1711.

Types of performing arts

The Performing arts include the dance, music, opera, theater, and circus arts [e.g. clowns].

Artists who participate in these arts in front of an audience are called performers, including actors, comedians, dancers, musicians, and singers. Performing arts are also supported by workers in related fields, such as songwriting and stagecraft.

Performers often adapt their appearance, such as with costumes and stage makeup, etc.

There is also a specialized form of fine art in which the artists perform their work live to an audience. This is called Performance art. Most performance art also involves some form of plastic art, perhaps in the creation of props. Dance was often referred to as a plastic art during the Modern dance era.

*Here's some good news from MAINE: veteran Portland morning man Bud Sawyer is returning to the air soon, via low-power WJZF-LP (97.1 Standish). Sawyer, last heard on Portland's WLOB (1310) but best remembered for his long stints with WPOR and WGAN, will be heard 7-10 AM weekdays, broadcasting from his home overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Falmouth.

WJZF is as good a place as any to begin the next installment of our plunge into the sea of applications from the 2007 Non-Comm FM Window, inasmuch as the Standish Citizens Educational Organization, licensee of the LPFM, has applied for a full-power signal, with 9.7 kW on 88.1. That application ended up MX'd to two other 88.1 applications - a 50 kW in Bowdoin from Light of Life Ministries, one of nine Maine applications from that religious broadcaster, and a 1 kW application in Hallowell from the University of Maine - as well as to an 88.3 in Kennebunkport (New Life Media) and to several New Hampshire applicants.

In addition to Light of Life's 9 applications, at least 17 others among the 45 Maine applications were from religious broadcasters. Calvary Chapel of Portland applied for 88.5 Westbrook and 89.7 Freeport, with the Westbrook application being one of four to make the FCC's "singleton" list.

The other Maine singletons are Light of Life's 88.1 Pittston Farm and the University of Maine's 91.5 Farmington and 91.7 Machias applications.

A few others worth noting: the Appalachian Performing Arts Institute, based in Tennessee, applied for 88.1 Presque Isle and 90.5 Kittery, while another Tennessee-based applicant using the same consulting engineer, the Appalachian Educational Communication Corp., applied for 90.7 in Livermore Falls and Wilton.

Like many lawmakers in Washington, Davis has made comprehensive immigration reform a cornerstone of his first year in office. The issue has become a hot-button nationwide and will likely play a major role in the 2008 elections.

Davis said he favors providing a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the country rather than deporting them.

"Most people in East Tennessee will welcome people with open arms if they come here legally," Davis said. "Illegal is illegal, though. I don't think the answer is deporting 12 million people, though."

The issue of deporting undocumented aliens is not only a big deal nationally, it's of particular importance to some small business owners in Sevier County, who depend on labor provided by those new residents. Davis said deporting those workers and the millions of others could cause major problems for the economy.

He says the first step in any immigration reform plan is to secure the border between the United States and Mexico. That means building a fence, he said. The issue is not only important to stop demand on U.S.
infrastructure, but also in protecting American citizens.

Well, I suppose it is official now as this database information regarding Rep. Matthew Hill was posted at the Tennesseean.com --- although Rep. Matthew Hill was re-elected for the 2006-2007 legislative term, returned zero "Year of Service in exchange for being compensated $29,582.00 as elected representative of the Tennessee 7th House District. You would figure that the Tennessean staff would at least give Rep. Hill some credit in the "Years of Service" catergory just for showing up at the Tennessee House chamber for just showing up with a pulse and an ability to breathe on his own!

I am proud that my father, Congressman David Davis, believes both in the concept of life and in protecting our Constitution. I have read with interest, and dismay, some of the letters to the editor that portray my father as a dog hater. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have seen firsthand his love for animals and his love of the United States Constitution, which he is sworn to uphold.

My family took in a stray beagle-mix dog when I was in the second grade. We named him Oreo because of his distinctive black and white markings. These markings have since blended into shades of gray over the past 13 years. Yes, Oreo has aged, but he is still a vital part of my life since we actually grew up together. We almost lost Oreo last year, the veterinarian had even told us to say our "goodbyes.” [sic] My father decided to try an experimental treatment to keep Oreo alive and to oreturn him to health. Thankfully, the therapy was successful and Oreo is still with us today.

My father has never condoned nor supported dog fighting. He has always stood up for life issues and he has always taken his oath to protect our Constitution seriously. Dog fighting, as most people know, is a state issue. Fortunately dog fighting is a felony in Tennessee as it is in most every state in the nation.

The United States Congres would better serve the citizens of America if it would spend more time the protecting the lives of humans and passing an energy bill to help struggling families. The state legislators are capable of passing state laws.

In the wake of the federal dogfighting indictment against Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, U.S. Rep. David Davis responded Wednesday to an animal rights group accusing him of giving dogfighters a “free pass” by voting against legislation last March to upgrade penalties for the illegal transportation of dogs.

The Humane Society Legislative Fund (HSLF) attacked Davis for his vote on the Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act, which passed the House by a 368-39 vote, cleared the Senate unanimously and was signed by President Bush in May — after the alleged crimes listed in an indictment against Vick and his codefendants had occurred.

Davis, R-1st District, was the only member of the Tennessee congressional delegation to vote against the bill.

“The vast majority of members of Congress supported this legislation to put a stop to precisely the type of behavior that Michael Vick was charged with last week — participation in a multi-state network of cruel and degrading dogfighting activities,” HSLF President Michael Markarian said in a prepared release. “Humane organizations and more than 400 law enforcement agencies supported the federal bill, yet David Davis showed his true colors by giving dogfighters a free pass.”

Davis responded by indicating that the Humane Society is using Vick’s situation to advance its political agenda.

“The reality is dogfighting and cockfighting are illegal in Tennessee and will continue to be illegal in Tennessee,” Davis said. “I don’t feel like you need a new federal law. You have state laws in place. It has nothing to do about my feelings for or against animals. I wish they could look at my vet bill for my dog that passed away about three months ago.”

I was recently reviewing some posted online campaign finance disclosure reports filed for Rep. Matthew Hill and found the following information about one particular contributor:

It was not the size of the contribution to Rep. Hill's campaign treasury that caught my attention (after all, the campaign cash received from the various John M. Gregory family members/relatives and the Gregory-controlled Tennessee Conservative PAC still drawfs most all other campaign contributions received by Rep. Hill), but rather, it was that this Larry Bates is listed by Hill or his organization as being "self-employed" within the broadcast industry without listing Bates' actual company name.

So just who is the Memphis area broadcaster Larry Bates anyway? Perhaps some distant DJ with a lot of loose money to toss around to conservative nutcase politicians? A quick examination of Hill's campaign finance records would certainly not reveal this hidden information...

A lenghtly Google search reveals that Larry Bates is both a former associate of Jake Butcher and a former three-term Democrat member of the Tennessee House of Representatives (1970-1976; Bates switched to the Republican Party after he moved to Memphis). It also turns out that Bates wears many other hats (small bank CEO, economist, author) and heads up the Information Radio Network, Inc. (IRN USA Radio News) --- and one of the radio programs featured on for-profit Information Radio Network is the newly and nationally syndicated "The Matthew Hill Show" airing at 0800 a.m. and 1200 noon (1-800-773-8255).

So why is it that Rep. Matthew Hill is hiding his employment/independent contractor relationship with Larry Bates from public review of the Matthew Hill campaign disclosures filed with the Tennessee Secretary of State?

Are there some good Republican candidates? "You bet," according to Bates. For instance, Tom Tancredo got it right when he recently got tough with Muslims. What are some of the big issues of the upcoming election? National health insurance is a big issue. "If we have national health insurance, it will "ruin the country." "The country ends when we enact national health insurance. What's the evidence for this dramatic prediction? Tennessee has free government medical care, yet (according to Bates) nobody signs up for it." Therefore, there's no need for national health insurance. "Under national health insurance, Bill Clinton would have had to wait six weeks to get an appointment and six months to get his necessary surgery." National health insurance involves the "efficiency of the post office and the compassion of the IRS." Furthermore, it will "drive the cost of health care way up." National healthcare will bankrupt the country: "The government that can give you everything you want must, by definition, take everything you've got."

Bates explained that churches will need to get more into the healthcare business, because they have more to offer than the healthcare establishment. Churches have the courage to "tell the bums that they are bums" (I wondered what the bum lobby would think of this statement.)...,

Bates claims that he puts silver in his milk to keep it from spoiling. "It will never spoil as long as you put silver in your carton of milk." He urged the audience to buy the colloidal silver generating kit, so they can make their own colloidal silver. He warned the audience that the FDA does not want people to know about the amazing healing powers of silver. "The FDA doesn't want the competition - it would put some big pharmaceutical companies out of business." "In fact, the FDA is about to try to outlaw the use of silver as a medicine." "Modern pharmaceuticals are "witchcraft."

Regarding your Larry Bates article, here's my claim-to-fame honest-to-god-story with the so-called Dr Larry Bates.

About seven years ago I was listening to Larry and his "yes-daddy-that's-exactly-right" son Chuckie on WWJC in Duluth, MN, talk about how the bible demands we execute murderers.

I called in and asked Larry and his son that if abortion is "murder", should we execute women who have one. Larry and Chuckie first said we should execute the doctors, not the women. When I reminded them that there is a pill (RU-486) available for women to take, they both hemmed and hawed and never quite answered.

However, the very next day on his radio show, Larry apologized for not being clear. He said that as a society we SHOULD execute ALL women that have ever had an abortion. He admitted it was a difficult decision to expose the truth, and that he lost an advertiser for his view, but wanted to make it clear that we EXECUTE all women that have had an abortion.

Now there's a real "Christian" for ya. YAAAAAA GOD!!!!!

The few real democrats in the Tennessee politics who care about the masses have genuine cause to fear for their life. Even Al Gore, as wealthy as he is. Former Rep. W.C. "Bubba" Pleasant, a Republican who represented the West Tennessee city of Arlington said that lawmakers are usually "on edge" as the legislative year comes to an end. He used to watch the drama unfold, then rise occasionally to give what he called "love speeches" to lighten the mood.

"If people could just somehow realize how important it is to put the silly stuff aside and really and truly try to do things to benefit every citizen," he said.

While there have been a few dustups in recent months, House sessions have largely been congenial and free of open hostility. Between ceremonies for victorious sports teams, beauty queens and musicians, lawmakers voted on some bills while deferring others for later consideration.

A sign of a mood shift came April 17, shortly after Rep. Brenda Gilmore, a Nashville Democrat, rose to support her bill on sewage systems. Moments later, Rep. Matthew Hill, a Jonesborough Republican, spoke in support of an amendment.

The amendment had nothing to do with sewage; rather, it sought to attach a provision to allow business owners to require workers to speak English while on the job.

The law had passed the Senate, but died in the House. Hill urged fellow lawmakers to adopt it, saying he meant no disrespect to Gilmore but felt it was needed.

The amendment caused an uproar. Gilmore said she had not been told of the amendment and was "really disappointed" in Hill. Rep. Mike Turner requested that the amendment be quashed.

Both sides shouted support or opposition to tabling the amendment. With House Minority Leader Jason Mumpower stalking among the GOP ranks hefting a metal baton he uses to vote with, the amendment died on a near straight party-line vote.

Tempers Cool, Reignite

The furor died down and the original bill was approved. The issue resurfaced when Majority Leader Gary Odom got up to scold Republicans.

"We can play these games for the next few weeks that we're going to be in session. That's going to make the days a lot longer and a lot harder," he said.

Mumpower jumped to his feet, saying "nothing that's happened is out of line with what has been the common practice of this House.

"I do hope that everyone conducts themselves in as courteous a manner as possible, at the same time recognizing that issues important to the people we represent may come up at the last minute," he said.

"What's The Word? - Thunderbird!": Rep. Hill Pushing "Bum Wine" Sales In Tennessee Grocery & Convenence Stores

A recent blog entry by Rep. Matthew Hill's adoring mouthpiece and internet toady Jama Oliver is citing a newspaper article reporting that Hill is supporting the sale of wines within Tennessee grocery and convenience stores --- presumably, this means that Hill is also favoring the sale of the low-cost, high alcohol "bum wines" or "ghetto wines" (fortified wines) favored by down-and-out alcoholics and underage drinkers at Tennessee grocery and convenience stores. For a very clever and informative (if not sadly entertaining) review of bum wines, I found the following excerpts from the Bumwine.com web site:

As pictured to the left, look for the pigeon feces and you'll find this old bird. As soon as you taste this swill, it will be obvious that its makers cut every corner possible in its production to make it cheap.

Self-proclaimed as "The American Classic," Thuderbird is Vinted and bottled by E&J Gallo Winery, in in Modesto, CA. Disguised like Night Train, the label says that it is made by "Thunderbird, Ltd." If your taste buds are shot, and you need to get trashed with a quickness, then "T-bird" is the drink for you. Or, if you like to smell your hand after pumping gas, look no further than Thunderbird. As you drink on, the bird soars higher while you sink lower.

The undisputed leader of the five in foulness of flavor, we highly discourage driking this ghastly mixture of unknown chemicals unless you really are a bum. A convenience store clerk in Show Low, AZ once told me that only the oldest of stumbling indian drunks from the reservation buy Thunderbird. Avaliable in 750 mL and a devastating 50 oz jug.

The history of Thunderbird is as interesting as the drunken effects the one experiences from the wine. When Prohibition ended, Ernest Gallo and his brothers Julio and Joe wanted to corner the young wine market. worst experience of my life? strawberrty cisco followed by 3/4 of a bottle of nighttrain.

i was feeling fine...even pretty good after 3/4 of the bottle of cisco. i was with my brother and i remarked to him that i was feeling pretty drunk.

after that i dont remember drinking the nighttrain. he related to me that i drink most of it, started laughing and crying cause my "friend in the bottle" couldnt get out and that i was mandated to free him. he tried to get me to write things down and i guess i told him i wanted to poke his eyes out with the pen in my hand. i apparently crawled around on the ground for a while, groveling and muttering strange things. he then threw water on me which was a tragedy for me because i guess i thought water was acid and it was going to burn my retinas away.

i away [awaked] the next day around 4pm feeling very awful. the hangover lasted for about 2 days afterward. it was the most painful experience in my life. worse than almost having my leg amputated. i cannot believe i actually drank Satan's piss.

WASHINGTON --- Rep. David Davis' outgoing press secretary Timothy Hill introduced his successor on Wednesday - Ryan Tronovitch, who will be taking over Davis' media relations duties for the rest of his first term.

Hill, who was active in the election campaign of the Johnson City Republican, said he would be pursuing other interests.

"Tim has been a real asset to the 1st District and I'm looking forward to working with Congressman Davis," Tronovitch said.

"I want to continue Davis' tradition of operating under an open door policy."

Tronovitch, who has spent previous time working in media relations on Capitol Hill, said he was familar with the 1st Congressional District, adding that he looked forward to getting back to the see the mountains of East Tennessee.

1st District Congressman David Davis has a new press secretary. Ryan Tronovitch replaces Timothy Hill who has stepped down to pursue other interests. Hill was at the center of controversy several months ago for allegedly trying to eliminate information about Davis on Wikipedia.Com. Tronovitch is a capitol hill veteran.

Matthew Hill at an EPA photo op earlier this year in Johnson City wherein Hill was revealed with his hand on the shoulder of an unidentified woman, tilting her out of his way (and to the left, no less!) during the photo shoot --- I suppose that Matthew has finally made his transition from politican to "statesman", har, har, har!

I was monitoring WPWT 870 AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" the other day and listened to the caller "Jack from Johnson City" challenge Marx E. Simpleton to an "in-person debate" --- meaning as I understood the telephonic conversation, that Jack would debate Simpleton face-to-face either during an on-the-air encounter during "Good Morning Tri-Cities" at the WPWT studios or at a more public venue such as a public meeting room at ETSU.

That wuss Simpleton spent a better portion of GMTC retreating out of any such debate with Jack, by stating that it would be a waste of his listener's time (as if they were not already wasting precious hours of our their lives by listening to "Good Morning Tri-Cities" on WPWT) --- yup, Simpleton is all blow and no go.

OF course, to listen to Simpleton talk about himself and his self-styled "intellectual prowess", you would quickly learn that Simpleton's demonstrated idea of "debate" (and I am using the term loosely here) is to give a caller 30 seconds and then hang up on the same person while debating them on the radio.

Good luck on that debate with Simpleton ever happening, Jack...

WPWT 870AM's Suck Radio Format

Barf...I was monitoring WPWT "Good Morning Tri-Cities" yesterday (Thursday, August 2) and heard this dullard Marx Simpleton comparing himself with noted talk radio host Michael Savage. And then I started thinking more in depth about what Simpleton had to say about his self- projected identity toward Savage (not that Savage has ever extended the same toward Simpleton)...and now I can see this match up as well.

You see, the name "Michael Savage" is actually a pseudonym, a stage name that Savage uses during his nation wide broadcast. Savage's real name is actually "Michael Alan Weiner". Hey, I have all along suspected that Simpleton is a Weiner, too.

I also get a kick out of hearing Simpleton talk about his rants of his radio show into national syndication --- a pretty bold statement from the pioneer of the Suck Radio format whose own WPWT radio station is at the very bottom of the Arbitron ratings for the relatively small share (less than or equal to less that .005 AQH share) of the age 12+radio listeners within the Johnson City-Bristol market. Whatta Weiner!

Apparently, the same three callers that he manages to take in during "Good Morning Tri-Cities" have put this idea into his little Weiner brain.

Perhaps the real goood thing here --- in a business sense --- is that Simpleton's Suck Radio format is keeping WPWT anchored to the basement and burning away Kenneth Hill's ability to earn ratings and profits. Hill would do better to cull out Simpleton and let the little Weiner pursue a career in retail ice cream sales.

Marx E. Simpleton's Abortion Blood-Guilt: His School Boy Love And Advocacy For Fred Thompson

Boy, I am betting that WPWT 870 AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" host Marx E. Simpleton is ready to curl up his toes and draw his feet back up under the house that his sister dropped on him after finding out that possible 2008 U.S. President Fred Thompson worked as an abortion rights lobbyist to the White House way back in 1991. Yep, Simpleton now shares the fetus-stained blood guilt of abortion with Thompson.

The Los Angles Times published the article "Thompson lobbied for abortion-rights group, it says" within the July 7, 2007 edition of the newspaper, outlining Thompson working for the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association. Past NFPRHA President Judith DeSarno presented a copy of the September 14, 1991 NFPRHA board meeting minutes outlining Thompson being hired as a lobbyist and his working to overturn the so-called abortion "gag rule":

...Judith DeSarno, who was president of the family planning association in 1991, said Thompson lobbied for the group for several months.

Minutes from the board's meeting of Sept. 14, 1991 — a copy of which DeSarno gave to The Times — say: "Judy [DeSarno] reported that the association had hired Fred Thompson Esq. as counsel to aid us in discussions with the administration" on the abortion counseling rule.

Former Rep. Michael D. Barnes (D-Md.), a colleague at the lobbying and law firm where Thompson worked, said that DeSarno had asked him to recommend someone for the lobbying work and that he had suggested Thompson. He said it was "absolutely bizarre" for Thompson to deny that he lobbied against the abortion counseling rule.

"I talked to him while he was doing it, and I talked to [DeSarno] about the fact that she was very pleased with the work that he was doing for her organization," said Barnes. "I have strong, total recollection of that. This is not something I dreamed up or she dreamed up. This is fact."

DeSarno said that Thompson, after being hired, reported to her that he had held multiple conversations about the abortion rule with Sununu, who was then the White House chief of staff and the president's point man on the rule.

Thompson kept her updated on his progress in telephone conversations and over meals at Washington restaurants, including dinner at Galileo and lunch at the Monocle, she said. At one of the meals, she recalled, Thompson told her that Sununu had just given him tickets for a VIP tour of the White House for a Thompson son and his wife.

"It would be an odd thing for me to construct that thing out of whole cloth," DeSarno said. "It happened, and I think it's quite astonishing they're denying it."

Go figure...Simpleton giving a partisan pass to Republicans on the abortion issues of abortion lobbying and RU-486 --- Simpleton is a truly ignorant man and he shares their blood guilt in these abortion matters.

Ho, hum...back from a break.

Catching the radio this morning while listening to Marx E. Simpleton spreading his Christian CONservative Pravda over the airwaves...I am just wondering if Simpleton can bring a truck load of it by the HQ and spread it around some of the trees here.

Perhaps you can recall the 1965 movie "In Harm's Way" (of the World War II Pacific Theater genre) starring John Wayne and Patricia O'Neil. In this movie, O'Neil's character (a Navy nurse Maggie who eventually becomes the lover of Wayne's character Admiral Rockwell Torrey) is bringing a cup of coffee to Adm. Torrey while he is in his office listening to Tokyo Rose propaganda on the radio and doing some paper work. At this point in the film, the nurse asks if they (meaning the U.S. Armed Forces) can't block the radio signal from Tokyo Rose.

Torrey responds to the nurse by stating something to the effect that the troops don't actually give Tokyo Rose and her propaganda any credibility; they only listen to her program for the American pop music.

The same thing can be said for listening to Simpleton during WPWT 870 AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities", except WPWT 870 (unlike Tokyo Rose sixty some years ago) doesn't air any good music.

In case you have not listened to the WPWT 870 morning radio "Good Morning Tri-Cities" with Marx E. Simpleton and his off-the-wall "CONservative Christian" rants, you should probably tune in 870 AM, if only just to record some of the GOP propaganda spewed forth over the public airwaves by WPWT.

Simpleton, in many ways, is my favorite sycophant --- not that he has ever said any praise about me --- as he artistically grovels with absolute subserviance to the mere mention of any republican politican: e.g.: former U.S. Fred Thompson, U.S. Representative David Davis, Tennessee Rep. Matthew Hill (Simpleton's workplace superior at WPWT).

Perhaps Simpleton on some level is correct in persuing his suck-up approach to Rep. David Davis as this type of ego stroking probably helped to advance his less capable predecessor and morning host at "Good Morning Tri-Cities" --- Timothy Hill--- to be appointed as Rep. Davis' press secretary.

Just a couple of months back, I started feeling a little sorry for this AM ass-kisser of the airwaves after he had been on-air for several days ranting and denoucing the truthful reports (and reporters) of Fred Thompson having been divorced. "Lies, lies, lies!", Simpleton often retorted in his slavish defense of Thompson. Email was sent to Simpleton to prove otherwise the actual facts cocerning Thompson's divorce --- and he promptly shut his flapping pie-hole about this matter.

What a surprise...

But perhaps that is what this Simpleton approach at WPWT is all about: spreading the Christian CONservative Pravda: more cultish that Christian, more fascist than conservative, and unfortunately, more propaganda posturing as "Truth".

If you regularly monitored both the WPWT 870AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" and the WFHG 92.7FM "Marc Bernier Show" before October 2005, you might have noticed the regularity of telephone calls from political gadfly going by the name of Pat Mannix --- ever wonder what became of Mannix and why the Northeast Tennessee listeners of these programs are not hearing Mannix on the air?

I have never met with or spoken to Pat Mannix, but there are two significant legal paper trails between Mannix and both WPWT 870AM (d.b.a Information Communications Corporation) and WFHG 92.7FM. It appears that Mannix may have attempted too many calls into WPWT 870AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" and the WFHG 92.7FM "Marc Bernier Show".

As it played out in Florida, Marc Bernier petitoned the Circuit Court of the Seventh Judicial Circuit, Volusia County, Florida (Case No.: 2005-33985 FMCI Division: 82) for "injuction for protection against repeat violence (after notice) pursuant to Florida Statutes 784.046 --- that is to say that the respondent, Patrick J. Mannix, Sr. made to many telephone calls to Bernier.

The Volusia County, Florida Seventh Judicial Circuit court records for the Bernier petition also reveal that an Order Allowance Appearance By Telephone was issued on October 10, 2005 by the distant court, so that "...the Witness, Matthew Hill,, may appear via telephone at the hearing scheduled for Tuesday, November 11, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. before the Honorable H. Pope Hamrick, Jr.

O.K., in Mannix's Florida circuit court trial, Tennessee State Representative and former WPWT 870AM talk radio host Matthew Hill was allowed appearance by appearance by telephone based on the the Petitioner Marc Bernier's Motion to Allow Witness to appear by telephone.

Forward up to December 23, 2205 to Sullivan Couny, Tennesee Law Court Part (I)(II), Case Number 12584 wherein Information Communications Corporation [d.b.a. WPWT 870AM et al] vs. Patrick J. Mannix, Sr. in which the notation on the bottom of the page states in part that the subpoena was served understate "...on the witness Marc Bernier Bernier...". Apparently, Mannix attempted to make too many telephone calls into two different WPWT 870AM radio programs.

Information Communications Corporation was represented within Case 12584 against Mannix by then Tennessee State Representative Jerome Cochran of Carter County, Tennessee. Exhibit A "Pat Mannix Calls to WPWT 870AM" provided to the Sullivan County Law Court by Information Communications Corporation, indicates that Pat Mannix attempted to call WPWT 870AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" 521 times between September 5, 2005 and October 10, 2005 and also attempted to call the afternoon WPWT 870AM "The Local View" program 252 times between September 5, 2005 and October 10, 2005.

What Exhibit A "Pat Mannix Calls to WPWT 870AM" does not indicate if WPWT 870AM recorded calls were merely attempted calls (the WPWT 870AM phone bank would drop attempted calls after a certain number of rings), completed telephone calls into WPWT 870AM, or a combination of both attempted and completed calls by Mannix. Furthermore, Exhibit A does not break down the internal routing of these calls (e.g.: studio, office, management, etc).

What is perhaps more revealing about Exhibit A "Pat Mannix Calls to WPWT 870AM" (or troubling about the Sullivan County Law Court Part (I)(II) document) is the fact that this Sullivan County court exhibit as presented was apparently not a documented record obtained from the telephone companies servicing either WPWT 870AM or Pat Mannix (a Virginia resident) --- in my mind, when one party represented by an experienced attorney is charging a second party pro se with a criminal complaint of telephone harassment or similar offense, you would think that the presiding judge would want to insure that the court had access to actual telephone company records.

Exhibit A is not in any way marked by letterhead or other marks indicating that it originated from a telephone company , and as far as Exhibit A is concerned, I could myself produce a near-exact, laser copy of the Exhibit A "Pat Mannix Calls to WPWT 870AM" utilizing a layout software program such as Adobe Pagemaker...

Chattanooga, TN - NASHVILLE -- A top aide to newly elected Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey, R-Blountville, received $47,800 in "supplemental pay" over the past two years from a Ramsey-controlled political action committee whose contributors included special interests, records show.

The Republican lawmaker's leadership PAC, called RAAMPAC, paid $11,700 in 2005 and $36,100 last year to then-Majority Leader Ramsey's executive assistant Matt King, according to filings with the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance.

Contributors to the PAC at the time included tobacco giants R.J. Reynolds ($1,500) and Altria Group Inc. ($1,000) as well as other interests with issues before the General Assembly, including the Tennessee Realtors Association ($7,500) and beer wholesalers ($1,000).

The PAC payments came on top of Mr. King's taxpayer-funded legislative salary of $81,042 in 2005 and $66,381 in 2006, records show.

"In order to bring me back to the level of income I'd had from my last job, the leader agreed to supplement my income through RAAMPAC," Mr. King said.

Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey's political action committee avoided campaign contribution limits by giving money to another PAC, which then directed money to key Republican candidates, an Associated Press analysis of campaign finance records has found.

During the beginning of 105th TNGA (January 2007), the Associated Press released the results of an AP analysis of Tennessee campaign finance records and concluded that Ramsey's political action committee (RAAMPAC) circumvented state law pertaining to PAC contribution limits by $15,000 to former state Republican Party chairman John "Chip" Saltman's SALT PAC.

Ramsey's committee, known as RAAMPAC, gave the maximum of $15,000 to each of three Republican candidates during the 2004 and 2006 election cycles. His PAC then gave money to a separate committee, SALT PAC, which in turn gave more money to the same candidates, the AP analysis showed.

I was reading through the Sunday, June 25, 2006 edition of the Johnson City Press when I noticed a campaign ad paid for the Friends of Matthew Hill (see earlier posting "Restaurant Inspection Score=82") and scrolled down the list stopping at the first couple named before Rep. Hill's own parents (Dr. Kenneth and Janet Hill) --- John and Janice [P.] Garrison.

Wait a minute. Is this "Friend of State Representative Matthew Hill" the same John Garrison who, according to Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission ownership records, was licensed as a former co-owner of the Alpine Package Store (308 N Broadway, Johnson City) from the approximate dates of 1992 to June 2005? A quick search of the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance also reveals that the Friends of Matthew Hill Campaign Treasurer Jennifer Dier reported $1,200 worth of in-kind contributions from both John E. and Janice P. Garrison during year 2005, although the actual specifics of the Garrisons' in-kind contributions were not listed on the disclosure form filed by theFriends of Matthew Hill:

Naifeh Places Hill Back For Another Session In Freshman Committee Assignments

"Right now, I'm the second highest ranking Republican member [minorty party] on the Transportation Committee," Hill said.

Well you have to give Democrat-hating Matthew Hill some credit; he certainly knows how to spin the bad news for the folks back home in Washington County --- such as the returning Jonesborough legislator not being appointed to any new House committee assignments by Tennessee Speaker of the House Jimmy Naifeh. According to a recent newspaper article, Hill was not assigned to any new committes by Naifeh --- and Hill simply retained the same freshman assignments to both the House Transportation Committee and the House Children and Family Affairs Committee that he originally received during the 104th TNGA.

Still, Hill favored much better with his 105th TNGA House committee assignments than did his fellow (and former) House Transportation Committee member Jerome Cochran (too bad). Johnson City resident Cochran was soundly defeated during the 2006 Carter County election for state representative by Kent Williams of Elizabethton. Democratic house Speaker Naifeh appointed freshman Republican Rep. Williams to both the House Finance, Ways, and Means Committee and the House Health and Human Resources Committees.

I personally believe that Hill is very fortunate to receive these committee reappointments --- if Naifeh had even heard a fraction of the anti-Naifeh comments spilled over the years on WPWT 870 AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" by both former GMTC hosts Matthew Hill and his litlle brother Timothy Hill, Matthew might have very well found his legislative offices within the State Capitol to be reassigned into a basement level janitor's closet.

I would be interested in learning for Rep. Hill if he actually shares his brother's Timothy's view that Satan directed the election of Jimmy Naifeh as Tennessee Speaker of the House...

I was monitoring Rep. Matthew Hill's WPWT 870 AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" 0800 rant spewing this morning from host Marx Emmanuel ('splains somewhat his on-air Christ complex) Simpleton when I picked up a few factoids from Simpleton:

1) for some unknow reason, a small cult of Christian homeschoolers (parents) tune in to WPWT 870 AM "Good Morning Tri-Cities" for the "educational" and "moral" values of Simpleton' s radio program;

2) Simpleton utilized WPWT 870 AM FCC licence to broadcast to inform these same homeschoolers about private and itimate details about his sister (as I recall, Simpleton used the phrase "...my sister dates around a lot for casual sex" on-air this morning);

3) Simpleton then launches into a rather lenghtly discussion of a news article (no doubt for the benefit of the tender ears of his young audience members) pertaing to a man who was arrested for forcing his wife to participate within a S/M bondage film.

You know, when I was a student in the public schools (i.e.: elementary, junior high, and high schools) I never had any teacher bring up the subject of S/M bondage during any class or extracircular school activity, as Simpleton did with all those homeschooled kids listening to WPWT. As a matter of fact, I never had an instructor during any of university (state) classes to launch into the depravity that Simpleton was spilling into the innocent minds of those victimized homeschoolers.

Those poor tykes!

I am sure thankful that my parents sent me to public schools (and never forced me to listen to "conservative Christian talk radio" during my formative years)!

Although I felt pretty bad for Simpleton's sister (you know, for being slandered and villified by her brother and WPWT 870 AM), I found it pretty amazing that Single Guy Simpleton was complaining about dating and marriage partners not sharing most all personal details with each other (Simpleton did make an exclusion for military secrets or for those professions that hold confidences), given his on-air trash-talking about his sister.

Word of advice for the homeschoolers: you should probably pass on sharing any intimate details of your personal lives with Simpleton. At least the details you might not want broadcasted over WPWT 870 AM.

Hmmm. Let me think about this --- Jesus never mentioned "rapture". The Apostles never spoke of "rapture". And the word "rapture" is not even found in the Bible. So why is Simpleton injecting "rapture" into his discussion of Revelation. WWJD?:

Bummer (mild). Althought Rep. Matthew Hill prevailed in the 2006 7th District Tennessee House of Representative Election against Democratic challenger Fred Phillips, I seem to recall that Phillips managed to shave a few thousand votes off of Hill's 2004 total vote count... And likewise, a new political title is in order for former Tennessee Representative David Davis who is now U.S. RU-486 Representative David Davis following the fall election.

Expect more posting activity regarding Rep. Hill, reported Hill campaign financing during both of the 2006 elections, and political agenda here in January after the 2007 Tennessee General Assembly session begins in January.

During the last week of so leading up to the November 7 election, Rep. Matthew Hill was citing within his many campaign ads of his "Great Pumpkin" belief in a supposedly impending legislative movement toward legislation for a Tennessee state income tax --- and Hill was actually sounding more like a rabid spokesman for the Tennesseans For Fair Taxation rather than a straight-talking member of the Tennessee General Assembly.

A recent article "Income tax can fly, says group - Analysis: Support not politically fatal; experts scoff" by Brad Schrade and featured within the Tennessean quotes a Middle Tennessee State Univeristy political science professor (demonstrating a recognized expertise within the field of Tennessee politics) who thinks differently than both Rep. Matthew Hill and his cronies within the Tennesseans For Fair Taxation pro-income taxgroup on the income tax matter:

The [Tennesseans For Fair Taxation] group's political read on the issue [Tennessee state income tax] based on the recent elections seems skewed, said Mark Byrnes, a Middle Tennessee State University political science professor who has written about state politics.

Byrnes said he saw no evidence in last week's results to suggest any momentum for supporting an income tax. Bredesen's stated opposition almost certainly takes it off the table for the next four years, he said.

"I think [that most] everyone seems to agree the state income tax is a dead issue," Byrnes said. "The only time it got mentioned was to try to kill it more.

"Many of the legislators are on record opposing it. I think it will take some major financial calamity to make it a viable option.

"Even then it wouldn't be easy."

What is purhaps more revealing about this newspaper article is that Tennesseans For Fair Taxation Executive Director Brian Miller is citing a MTSU study showing that public support for a Tennessee state income tax is enhanced when coupled with lowering the state sales taxes on food --- and Rep. Matthew Hill has frequently positioned himself as being the leading House member to champion a removal (not reduction) on the grocery sales tax in Tennessee:

Miller counters that part of the problem with the income tax is that it is too often discussed in a vacuum. He said MTSU's polls in recent years have shown support trends toward 60 percent for an income tax as long as cuts to the sales tax, especially sales taxes on food, are part of the proposal.

He said the talk from many candidates about cuts in the sales tax on food during this year's legislative session and during the election cycle shows the public is ready for some of the key elements of a tax system change.

Wow ---- Rep. Matthew Hill's bumbling legislative efforts to eliminate the Tennessee state sales tax on groceries are actually giving signifcant political traction to the advancement of the Tennessee Pro-Income Tax movement! Who knew???

Rep. Matthew Hill Lies: About Cutting Grocery Taxes

I would not have much of a problem with Rep. Matthew Hill's recent radio campaign advertising with regard to "cutting grocery taxes" if narrator and Leitner Pharmaceutical lobbyist Jim Holcomb had only used the phrase "cutting Tennessee state sales taxes on groceries" --- you see, Rep. Matthew Hill is attempting to pull a Frank Burns here and not tell you the full story of how Rep. Hill, his brother Timothy Hill and Rep. David Davis) are all advocates of the so-called "Fair Tax" scheme that, according to a Wikipedia article, would place a 30% federal sales tax on grocery items:

The FairTax legislation would apply a 23% federal retail sales tax [actually 30%; see following] on the total transaction value of new retail goods and services purchases; in other words, consumers pay to the government 23 cents of every dollar spent (sometimes called tax-inclusive — as income taxes are calculated). The assessed tax rate is 30% if the FairTax is added to the pre-tax price of a good like traditional sales taxes (sometimes called tax-exclusive). The FairTax legislation uses total transaction value (tax-inclusive) in presenting the rate; with an item purchased for $100, the retailer receives $77 and the remaining is collected for the federal government. However, American sales taxes have historically been expressed as a percentage of the original sale price (tax-exclusive); items priced at $100 pre-tax cost $130 with the tax added. The use of the tax-inclusive number in presenting the rate has been criticized as deceptive by the plan's opponents.Proponents argue that the 23% number represents a better comparison to income tax rates, which are presented as inclusive rates.

A good would be considered used and not taxable if a consumer already owns it before the FairTax takes effect or if the FairTax has already been paid on the good. The FairTax would tax all services provided at the retail level. Personal services such as health care, legal services, haircuts and auto repairs would all be subject to the FairTax, as would renting apartments and other real property. State sales taxes do not generally tax such services. Education, training, saving and financial investing would be considered an investment (rather than final consumption) and therefore would not be taxed.

While Rep. Hill has previously introduced house bills seeking to eliminate the Tennessee state sales taxes on bread and milk, I am waiting for Marc Bernier to nail Hill for the "cutting the grocery taxes" misinformation that his campaign staff of monkeys is busily spewing out over the public airwaves.

Rep. Matthew Hill: Neoconservative Backed by HOE Money (well, indirectly)

Subsequent to the creation of Aventis, the merger of Hoechst and Rhone-Poulenc, on December 15, 1999, the organizational role and purpose of Hoechst AG changed. Hoechst AG is now an intermediate holding company that operates as an affiliate of Aventis under the Aventis logo. Around 97% of the shares of Hoechst AG are held by Aventis, Strasbourg, France. The remaining 3% are held by different private and institutional shareholders. Hoechst AG is still listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the symbol HOE.

The former Hoechst Web site is still available as a digital archive. However, a lot of the information could be outdated and should not be used for commercial purposes.

John & Joan Gregory: Generous Donation To Tennessee Right To Life For Political Intervention

Today's online edition of the Kingsport Times-News is posting the news article "John Gregory uses checkbook to promote conservative causes" by Hank Haynes detailing how John M. Gregory and his wife Joan have donated $75,000 to the Tennessee Right To Life anti-choice group, along with pledging to provide an additional $75,000 matching donation to TRTL. The Haynes article quoted TRL President Brian Harris saying that "...one church responded with a $50,000 gift.", although Haynes article did not indentify the location (Bristol, perhaps?) of the generous church.

This Kingsport Times-News article pertaining to the Gregory generosity toward the TRTL organization failed to disclose some other important background information concerning "Gregory's spokesman, former state Sen. Jim Holcomb":

"This is the first time a donor has ever stepped forward in such a significant fashion and offered to use his generous gift as a tool to encourage others to give," Harris said of the Gregorys.

Gregory's spokesman, former state Sen. Jim Holcomb, said Gregory has given about $600,000 to political advocacy groups and an estimated $1 million to political campaigns and political action committees over the past five years. Gregory is now managing partner of his own Bristol-based investment firm and has served as president of the King Benevolent Fund, an international ministry.[ I seem to recall that Gregory's stint as KBF president was prior to the King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. haggling with the federal courts over the pricing of King pharmaceutical drugs sold to Medicare; also there is no mention here of the Gregory owned Leitner Pharmaceutcials,Inc.]

"Much credit for the shift in Tennessee's political landscape relating to pro-life efforts is due to the enormous vision, commitment and generosity of John and Joan Gregory..." TRL said in an e-mailed news release. "In particular, the Gregorys have made it possible to place field representatives in critical regions of the state allowing for more effective chapter development and the strengthening of relationships and profile of the Right to Life movement. Simply put, strong local chapters translate into legislation passed, elections won and lives saved."

Holcomb also happens to be the current campaign chairman for State Rep. David Davis. Davis won the 2006 Republican Primary election in August and will be facing Democratic Primary winner Rick Trent of Morristown during the November general election in his second attempt to be elected as U.S. Representative from the Tennessee 1st Congressional District.

Brian Harris is president of the 501(c)(4) Tennesssee Right To Life, Inc, (EIN 62-1009171), president of the 501(c)(3) Tennessee Volunteers for Life Education Fund, Inc. (EIN 58-1544801), and president of the 501(c)(3) New Life Resources (EIN 62-1604218) all headquartered at the 4802 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, Tennessee 37209 address. Harris drew $25,804 in annual compensation from New Life Resources during 2004.

An artice "About Tennessee Right To Life & Brian Harris" posted by Harris within the Christain Activites web site cites that he is also a "...a director on the board of the National Right to Life Committee in Washington, D.C.", although the information is not readily verified through a review of the IRS Form 990s or related paper filed by the National Right To Life Committee, Inc., the National Right To Life Educatonal Trust Fund, or National Right To Life Conventions, Inc.

Hoechst RU-486: Hoechst Altace: Gregory: King Pharmaceuticals Altace Timeline

If you listen to the self-described "conservative" Tennessee republican politicians who say that they are also "pro-life" while accepting campaign contributions from Tennessee Conservative PAC President and former King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. CEO John M. Gregory, you should take that election year FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) propaganda with a grain of salt. Check out the Hilly Boy blog for a rather rough Hoechst RU-486: Hoechst Altace: Gregory: King Pharmaceuticals Altace time line running from pre-World War II to the 2004 Tennessee state elections.

In the United States, there have been many calls for boycotting the European pharmaceutical companies responsible for the development and market introduction of the RU-486 abortion drug since the drug came about in France during 1986 to 1988. The U.S. based National Right To Life Committee spearheaded a July 1994 boycott RU-486 of all Hoechst AG and U.S. subsidiary Hoechst Marion Roussell (HMR Kansas City, Missouri) pharmaceutical products including Altace.

By September 1994, the anti-abortion group Pharmacists for Life International specifically identified Altace as a boycott target having the most negative financial impact on Hoechst:

Having exhausted all reasonable and long-delayed avenues of solution, Pharmacists For Life International (PFLI) joined the numerous other pro-life groups in the international boycott against the parent company of the maker of the French abortion pill, RU-486. On Sept. 17th, the board of PFLI announced that it was joining the boycott against the American subsidiary of Hoechst, AG Hoechst-Roussel, Hoechst-Celanese, its generic subsidiary Coply Pharmaceuticals and the agricultural Hoechst subsidiary.

While other groups are focusing on the consumer side of the Hoechst boycott, PFLI will concentrate on a targeted, segmented approach to pressure Hoechst to rescind the RU-486 license it issued to the U.S. pro-abortion organization the Population Council. PFLI will also seek to convince Hoechst to halt the testing of the "Human Pesticide" in the U.S., currently happening at least 12 known sites, six of which are Planned Parenthood facilities. PFLI will concentrate on seeking support in the profession through institutional practices, wholesale/distributors, and community pharmacies (including independents and chains with latitude), It also is asking groups to *focus* on key Hoechst drugs which have the most economic impact rather than taking an across-the-board shotgun approach.

The drugs with the most potential for having an economic impact on Hoechst include: DiaBeta (glyburide); Altace (ramipril); Lasix (furosmide) and Topicort (desoximetsome). Altace was bringing in less than $90 million per year by 1995 for Hoechst and in 1995 --- in large part due to the ongoing U.S. boycott of Hoechst by the National Right To Life Committee and other U.S. anti-abortion groups --- a corporate decision was made by Hoechst to stop promoting Altace.

King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. President Jefferson "Jeff" Gregory (brother of one-time King Pharmaceuticals CEO John M. Gregory) began negotiations with Hoechst HMR during June 1995 to acquire U.S. distribution rights to Altace for the King Pharma subsidiary Monarch Pharmaceuticals.

Meanwhile in late 1998, Hoechst announced it would merge with Rhone-Poulenc to create Aventis (cleaning up --- if not sanitizing --- the widely perceived corporate image associated with Hoechst and RU-486 was one benefit realized by this merger) and the King Pharmaceuticals-Hoechst negotiations for the U.S. distribution and marketing rights to Altace for $363 million were finalized late in December 1998.

Also on the Tennessee home front on or about September 24 1998, Federal Election Commission records note that King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. President Jefferson (Jeff) Gregory contributed $1,000.00 to the Holcomb for Congress-98 election campaign. Former Tennessee State Senator (and at that time) King Pharmaceuticals employee/lobbyist since 1997) James "Jim" L. Holcomb sought to represent the Tennessee 1st House District of Northeast Tennessee as a conservative, "pro-life" republican within the U.S. Congress, and after failing with his 1998 republican primary bid for Congress, Holcomb refunded $797.00 of his remaining campaign treasury funds to his boss at King Pharmaceuticals, President Jefferson "Jeff" Gregory (actually, Holcomb refunded all of his campaign contributors in proportional amounts --- including that of both his own and his wife's campaign contributions to his election campaign).

During August (1999) King Pharmaceuticals lobbyist Holcomb organized a legislative airlift to Nashville aboard a King Pharmaceuticals corporate aircraft, transporting several republican Northeast Tennessee members of the Tennessee General Assembly (State Senator Ron Ramsey; State Rep. Jason Mumpower. State Rep. David Davis, and; State Rep. Steve Godsey) to lobby the then TennCare Director Brian Lapps for the approval of Altace on the TennCare PDL (Preferred Drug List) and by September of 1999 Altace is placed on the TennCare PDL and Director Lapps resigns from TennCare (Senator Ramsey would later claim in the press that "he organized" the Altace lobbying for King Pharmaceuticals).

Holcomb is currently employed as a governmental relations manager at the John Gregory owned Leitner Pharmaceuticals located in Bristol, Tennessee and is the treasurer of Gregory's Tennessee Conservative PAC.

I began noticing this Monday morning (October 2, 2006) that Rep. Matthew Hill's 2006 re-election campaign radio advertising on WHFG 92.FM is featuring a narrator doing the "voice overs" and sounding amazingly similar to former Tennessee Senator and Leitner Pharmaceuticals lobbyist Jim Holcomb. Holcomb at one time happened a WPWT 870 AM guest co-host of the "Rightly Speaking" morning talk radio program.

Holcomb was previously hired by former King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. CEO John M. Gregory as a lobbyist with King Pharmaceuticals, with the former Tennessee state senator's most noteable post-Tennessee General Assembly lobbying effort was that being his famed August 1999 King legislative "Airlift For Altace" of several legislators from Northeast Tennessee (including Senator Ron Ramsey and Representatives David Davis and Steve Godsey) to a Nashville meeting with the then TennCare Director Brian Lapps. Holcomb's 1999 Altace lobbying effort using King corporate aircraft secured Director Lapps' placement of Monarch Pharmaceuticals --- a King Pharmaceuticals subsidiary --- newly acquired and branded Altace cardiac prescription drug onto the TennCare Preferred Drug List (PDL).

Monarch Pharmaceuticals' branded Altace prescription drug was added to the TennCare PDL within approximately 30 days --- and very close to the date of Director Lapps' late September 1999 resignation as TennCare Director.

King Pharmaceuticals (d.b.a. Monarch Pharmaceuticals) had just previously acquired the U.S. distribution and marketing rights to Altace and other Hoechst products after completing late December 1998 negotiations with Hoechst AG of Germany and the Hoechst American subsidiary Hoechst Marrion Roussell (HMR of Kansas City, Missouri). Former King Pharmaceuticals President Jefferson "Jeff" Gregory (brother of then King Pharmaceuticals CEO John M. Gregory) started Altace acquisition negotiations with Hoechst/HMR during the summer of 1995.

Altace was among several HMR prescription drugs that were central among the economic boycott targets at Hoechst/HMR selected by various nationwide anti-RU86 abortion rights groups (such as Pharmacists For Life International) at the beginning of the 1994 National Right To Life Committee Boycott of Hoechst/MHR. A French pharmaceutcial subsidairy of Hoechst developed and sold the RU-486 abortion drug outsideof the United States.

The another effect of the Monarch acquistion of Altace by the Gregorys was that of allowing Hoechst/HMR to circumvent the U.S. market obstacles that Hoechst/HMR encountered while attempting to selling Altace and other Hoechst/HMR drugs to American puchasers during the National Right To Life Committee Boycott by forming an interdependent business relationship between Monarch and Hoechst/HMR.

Holcomb is also listed as the treasurer of John M. Gregory's Tennessee Conservative PAC.

Bob Patton to the extreme right detour of Republican Party politics that has been underway here in Northeast Tennessee since late 2003. Patton was defeated by Matthew Hill following not a so-friendly and expensive media attack launched by the Hill Tribe during the 2004 primary election for the Tennessee 7th House District seat in Washington County:

Former 7th District State Rep. Bob Patton isn’t letting this election year slip by without getting a word in. And that word seems to be coming at the expense of some in his own party.

Labeling himself a middle-of-the-road Republican, Patton said he wants voters in Northeast Tennessee to realize that far right Republicans are buying their way into office while leaving the real issues affecting this state behind.

“These far right candidates are mostly rich people who are brainwashing the general public because they have money,” said Patton, who wouldn’t disclose any particular legislators. “This is very dangerous, and these are dangerous people.

“The far right wants everyone to vote the same way — I felt that my votes should reflect what best benefits my constituents.”

Patton says some current Republican legislators are more about politics — voting the party line, not representing the voters that elected them.

“This nation was built on consensus, and they forget that,” he said. “We’re causing a gap between the rich and the poor if we don’t look at broader issues.

“God wants unity, not uniformity. The far right wants uniformity in the name of religion.”

Though Patton, who said he has no plans to run again, says Christians need to be in the political realm, they also need issues.

“I can’t just say I’m a Christian and run for office,” Patton said. “I tried to be a good Christian legislator with good issues.”

Patton added that a legislator should know more than the people he/she represents, therefore they should learn as much as possible.

According to Patton, other factors that led to him not being re-elected was his stance on a state income tax, which he said 48 percent of his constituency wanted; lies about him being pro-choice, which he says he’s not; the tremendous amount of money put into the [Matthew] Hill campaign and the fact Towne Acres, what Patton considered his best precinct, was taken out of his district.

“My own party did me in,” he said. “Democrats always laugh at Republicans because they say they eat their own, which I learned the hard way.

“At the end of the day, I know that I made good votes for 10 years and brought money home.”

Money, Patton says, is not coming back to Washington County and there have been no new roads for two years — since he lost his re-election bid.

“People have noticed,” he said. “And you must have the ability to work with people.

“The only reason we got the pharmacy school was because the governor was convinced that this was a good place for it — not because of anything the far right did.”

I think that Patton should have been a little more descriptive and used the pharse "shadowy special interest PAC groups representing a group of individuals tied particular pharmaceutical/investment company in Bristol, Tennessee" somewhere within his interview with Ingram.

2003: Total Property Value of Jonesborough Residence Plunges $24,000 Before Matthew Hill Closes

I really don't know what to make of this online information found at the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury Real Estate Assessment Data web site pertaining to Rep. Matthew Hill's 216 Mockingbird Place property in Jonesborough --- six months before Hill closes (January 30, 2003) the real estate is carried on the Washington County property tax rolls at a $131,000 total value and at the July 30, 2003 recording of his property deed the total value falls to $106,900.

If you a Washington County landowner, you might take some comfort in knowing that Rep. Hill's Jonesborough property was also caught up within the 2004 Washington County real estate reassessments, when Hill's place zoomed up from $106,900 on July 30, 2003 to $107,900 (and current as of July 1, 2006) --- for a 0.935% increase of total value!

Rep. Matthew Hill: Hates Gay [Unions]; Legislatively O.K. With "Traditional" Adulterous Unions

I found the following new Rep. Matthew Hill FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) Issue regarding at the Issues: Pro-Traditional Marriage section posted to Hill's 2006 campaign web site:

Matthew firmly believes that marriage is between one man and one woman. He supports amending Tennessee's Constitution to recognize marriage as only the union of one man and one woman.

So if we muddle through all the codewords (e.g. "Traditional" inferring "Biblical" and "Pro" inferring that a voter can only be either for or against the issue) and follow Rep. Hill's desire to "adulterate" the Tennessee Constitution with an appeal to fear --- and more specially under the pretext of protecting heterosexual marriage --- one can reasonably conclude that a "Pro-Traditional Marriage Admendment" would logically recognize marriage as the union of one man and one woman for the remainder of their lives.

Why does Hill's "Pro-Traditional Marriage Amendment" stance duck this important aspect of "traditional" (Biblical) marriage --- if the state has the power to prevent gays from forming civil unions, then the state under Hill's distorted version of reality also has the "pro-traditional marriage" authority to limit the legal recognition of divorced heterosexual individuals to legally marry and to also enjoy other benefits provided by such currently legally recognized marriages in Tennessee.

Taken to a more far right extreme, Hill's "Pro-Traditional" marriage attack on the Tennessee Constitution could go as far as not legally recognizing the children of a divorced and remarried parent(s) as being legitimate!

And with the possible exceptions for "Biblical" divorce allowed (e.g., divorce following by the act of adultry committed by a spouse) --- Hill's "pro-traditional marriage" attack on the Tennessee Constitution is rather nonsensical, after all, hetrosexual marriages in Tennessee are demonstratively more threatened by heterosexual adultry involving at least one of the traditional heterosexual marriage partners than would ever by directly threatened by the distant civil union between two gay partners.

So why is Rep. Matthew Hill seemingly O.K. with providing heterosexual adulterers in Tennessee a free pass within his concept of the propsed "Pro-Traditional Marriage" amendemnt to the Tennessee Constitution...???

The Enforcement Bureau has two divisions responsible for handling broadcast complaints. The Investigations and Hearings Division is responsible for resolving complaints of non-technical broadcast violations such as complaints alleging broadcast of obscene, profane and/or indecent material, violations of the FCC's rules regarding broadcast of hoaxes, licensee-conducted contests, broadcast of telephone conversation, and public inspection file requirements.

The Spectrum Enforcement Division resolves complaints of technical violations such as unauthorized operation of a broadcast station, violation of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) rules, antenna structure registration, marking and lighting rules, and operation with excessive power or at an unauthorized location.

EB - Investigations & Hearings Division

The Investigations & Hearings Division is responsible for resolution of complaints against broadcast stations and other Title III licensees on non-technical matters such as indecency, enhanced underwriting, unauthorized transfer of control and misrepresentation. In addition, with regard to wireless licensees, the Division is responsible for enforcement of rules regarding auction collusion and misrepresentation. The Division also investigates industry allegations of violations of Title II of the Communications Act, as amended, and FCC rules and policies pertaining to common carriers. In addition, the Division conducts, or assists in, various other investigations being conducted by the Bureau and serves as trial staff in formal Commission hearings.

The "Political Briefs" section of this morning's edition of the Johnson City Press (Monday October 30, 2006) is sporting an news release citing the Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 Tennessee endorsement of Fred Phillips:

The officers and board of directors of Rolling Thunder, Inc., Chapter 4 Tennessee, has [sic] endorsed the candidacy of Democrat Fred Phillips in the 7th House District race against incumbent Matthew Hill.

In its endorsement, the chapter cited Phillips' military experience. Phillips served in Korea with the Army's 24th Infantry Division.

Hey, that isn't quite fair as Rep. Matthew Hill does have some military experience...that is to say, protesting the U.S. military at the Bristol war memorial during the Kosovo Air Campaign.

In early November, Hilly boy had an open house at exactly the same time as the Northeast Tennessee Republican Club and the Washington County Young Republicans held a barbeque and bluegrass meet and greet. Apparently, Matthew Hill was not invited, or he wanted to try to upstage them.

At Hill's open house, his legislative assistant, Joan Achuff, came to help. Given that Gov. Bredesen has asked the executive branch agencies to reduce unnecessary state travel, I am wondering if Rep. Matthew Hill actually flew in his legislative assistant, Joan Achuff, from Nashville while he attended the Republican barbeque --- Rep. Hill's official web site lists Achuff with a Nashville telephone number, so the assumption is that Achuff is based in Nashville.

Achuff is listed as Rep. Matthew Hill's "executive constituent services and legislative assistant" within cache files of the Tennessee House GOP web site. You might also care to notice that "Mr. Accessible Hill" has omitted the address of his 7th District constituent services office from being listed at his 2006 campaign web site.

Hill's district office is located (or was formerly located) at 301 Montgomery Street in Johnson City.

Rep. Matthew Hill has most recently been running a series of display advertisements within the Johnson City Press featuring endorsements from Senators Rusty Crowe and Ron Ramsey, Rep. Bill Dunn, and one President Deborah Wooley of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce --- Hill, as the former owner of a failed Jonesborough "Hill of Beans" Coffee Shop that was opened during the 2004 campaign season, must have been especially soothed by the overly kind and generous Woolley Words:

"Matthew Hill has demonstrated a true understanding of the issues that are vital to job creation and growth. It is sad when, during an election campaign, courageous votes such as the one Hill cast against a flawed minimum wage bill are turned into political fodder. It appears that TNCofC President Woolley is attempting to pull the wool of the eyes of 7th House District voters with regard to Rep. Matthew Hill --- Woolley seems to have abandoned the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce stated position against union firefighters in order to lash out against Tennessee minimum wage earners.

You might also want to check out the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry [EIN 62-1236002] 2004 Form 990 "Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax" as filed with the Internal Revenue Service by TNCofC President Woolley. Wooley is listed within the 2004 IRS Form 990 as receiving $171,411 in compensation and an additional $38,657 for her expense account and other allowances. The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry is recoginized by the IRS as a 501(c)(6) tax exempt business league.

Another nugget found within the 2004 IRS Form 990 filed by TNCofC President Woolley pertains to the TNCofC Board of Directors Chair D. Lynn Johnson of King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. --- while at least one TNCofCommerce newsletter of the period refers to Johnson as a "Consultant", Johnson is currently listed as a registered lobbyist for King Pharmaceuticals (#36580) at the U.S. Representatives Office of House Clerk web site...

This all makes me wonder just what is the training wage is for the position of TNCofC President...?
